If you're looking for the sophistication of a Chinese Opera or if you prefer to get down to a hearty pub, you won't have a problem finding just that, and everything else in-between. From discos, clubs, jazz dens to pubs, piano bars or karaoke lounges, you'll be surrounded by fellow travelers and locals looking to experience their share of Hong Kong's night culture. Except for establishments that offer fine dining, smart or dress casual is acceptable. You can always call the club to find out the dress code. To find out what’s happening, look at the various newspapers and magazines printed in different languages.

Besides bars and clubs, there are other night time activities that you have to try. Take a trip on a Chinese Junk or water taxi to one of the floating restaurants in Aberdeen. The night market at Temple Street is where you can shop, browse and have something to eat. If you like to have a scenic walk in the evening, try various public walkways on the waterfront or up on Victoria Peak. You may want to visit Tsim Sha Tsui which is lit up with neon and bustling with shops, bars, cinemas and restaurants. Some of the malls, such as Pacific Place and Times Square offer night shopping plus high-tech cinemas and a variety of restaurants and bars.

Some of the most trendy areas are SoHo and Lan Kwai Fong located in Central where you weave through narrow alleys or cobblestone streets. Many of the bars and clubs are western but you will also find representation from all countries. Wanchai was once known for girlie bars and brothels but little of that is remaining. Stylish bars and nightclubs have started to take over, although you will still see saunas and "mama-sans". The following is a partial list of bars and clubs is according to district:
